Other uses for travel mugs

Travel mugs made their appearance in popular culture in the 1980s and primarily contain thermal insulating components for carrying hot or cold beverages. Insulated mugs are similar to vacuum flasks and are usually very well insulated and virtually sealed to prevent any form of spillage. A typical travel mug would come with a lid that is easy to maneuver, allowing you to take what’s inside in between or on the go.

The design of a travel mug is generally aimed at thermal insulation; The dense walls of a travel mug, unlike the thinner walls of tea and coffee mugs, shield liquids from getting too cold or too hot. The travel mug is normally not level; instead, it is concave in shape and built with an extra rim, so that thermal contact can be minimized when placed on a surface. Insulated mugs are built to be tough and are made from materials like stainless steel to strengthen the insulation process.

One of the most modern and convenient ways to store insulated mugs and other mugs is through a wooden or metal pole, from which the mugs hang by their respective handles. This contraption is known as a cup tree. There are also specially built shelves to hang mugs so they are ready to be distributed. This type of frame is commonly seen on boats and other water craft.

With the influx of chain coffee shops like Coffee Bean, Austin Chase, and Starbucks, more and more insulated mugs are being banished to the far corners of kitchen cabinets instead of car cup holders. Isothermal mugs, as the name suggests, are mainly used for travel, but who is to say that new ways cannot be invented for their use? Get out those unused insulated mugs and let’s see what we can do with them.

For starters, you can use your travel mug to protect your computer or laptop from spill incidents. Your drinks, whether hot or cold, can be placed inside travel mugs instead of ordinary open ones. When you use electronics, spills can not only cause accidents, but also harm you. Even if there is a spill, it would not be as much as when using a normal cup.

To keep drinks hot for longer, use thermo mugs even when you’re at home. Your drink will stay hot until the last sip, unlike traditional mugs. Plus, it will save you repeated trips to the kitchen to microwave your drink.

Use travel mugs when you’re working outdoors, whether you’re making repairs or playing in your garden. A travel mug is attached, so you won’t be bothered by unwanted visits from bugs or flies. It’s terrible to see little animals floating in your drink.

Thermal mugs can also protect your carpets and furniture. Some people like to carry their drinks around the house while cleaning and accidents happen. By using travel mugs instead, this can be avoided. A spot-free home is a happy home.
