I have lived in Toronto for many years and these attractions below are definitely the top must-see destinations for first-time visitors to the city.
* The CN Tower is one of the largest structures in the world and you will be able to take an elevator to the top of the tower. You will be able to see the entire city and some of the surrounding areas from the top of the CN Tower. You can also eat at the restaurant which is located near the top of the tower and rotates around the tower so you can see every angle of the city while you eat.
* If you’re feeling a bit extreme, you’ll definitely want to make a stop at Wonderland, which is one of the largest amusement parks in the country. Wonderland has plenty of monster roller coasters for the daredevils, but there’s also a kids’ area and a water park packed with awesome rides. Lately, the cost of admission has come down every year and it’s definitely a great way to spend a full day of your Toronto vacation.
* There is plenty of shopping to do in downtown Toronto and you’ll also be spoiled for choice at hundreds of great restaurants. There are many trendy clothing stores, museums, and even the Hockey Hall of Fame in downtown Toronto. You can easily spend a whole day in this area shopping and enjoying the busy atmosphere.
* If you like to watch sports, depending on the season you may catch one of Toronto’s professional sports teams. Toronto has a professional baseball team, a hockey team, a basketball team, a soccer team, and a CFL team. However, tickets can be quite expensive to see a Toronto sporting event, so you need to decide how important it is to you on your trip.
* Kensington Market is also a great place to visit when in Toronto as it is completely free. It is a street market where you can find everything from pirated DVDs to food imported from abroad. The market is always thriving and open every day as many people earn their income by running street side shops.
