Ready-to-assemble furniture is now gaining popularity in the furniture market. Coffee tables, bookcases, kitchen shelves and stools are among the furniture with ready-to-assemble furniture. These ready-to-assemble furniture or furniture are mostly sold at Walmarts and some discount stores. Big companies like IKEA have also expanded their designs on RTAs and are making it available to consumers globally.

So what does RTA furniture have? Why do some people buy it, and why do some people still opt for off-the-shelf furniture?

RTA furniture designs are limited. Since their assembly is left to the consumer, manufacturers have ensured that their individual parts are shaped regularly enough for consumers to put them together. On the plus side, they are relatively less expensive compared to off-the-shelf furniture. An RTA cabinet owner won’t think twice about repainting their RTAs to fit the color scheme of their new home or remodeling and modifying it according to their own taste if the old RTA look starts to get boring. However, the owner of an old, expensive, off-the-shelf piece of furniture will definitely think twice before repainting or reupholstering their expensive furniture.

Since these are designed more for functionality than for their aesthetic purposes in your homes, these are ideal furnishings for apartments, boarding school halls, and small family homes. And since anyone can mount them, so can anyone relocating or moving to a new place. They are useful. They can be broken down, flat packed and moved from one location to another without having to deal with the problem of taking up most of the space in the mover’s van.
