Hudson Adventure Island Review

Hudson Adventure Island was incredibly popular when it came out. They even made sequels to this one that most people don’t know about because they were so much rarer than the original. It’s pretty easy to see why they decided to make more games based on this one.

It’s incredibly easy to grab the controller and start playing. It is a platform game like Super Mario Brothers and therefore the controls are relatively simple. Adventure Island is the traditional jump and fire with some twists based on the items you collect. However, a big part of this game consists of trying to avoid things instead of fighting them like you are used to with Mega Man.

In general, this game is quite fun. You’re going to die … a lot. The first few times you play this game, you may feel that it is too difficult. However, don’t give up. Once you get the hang of it, you will find that it really does meet that moderate difficulty line. Again, he probably won’t make it to stage 8, but at least he’ll have a good chance of getting to the middle of the game once he gets really good.

Playing this game as a kid seemed a lot more fun than playing it as an adult. That is the only downside to this game. So if you are one of the people who loved to play Adventure Island as a child, it is recommended that you do not pick up this game again unless you show it to your own children as there will be a lot of disappointment. Leave your memories in the past.

Overall this was a quality game for when it came out. Although it does not receive the title of “classic”, it can still be considered a pretty good game.
