7 Thoughts From Scripture For Struggling Christian Entrepreneurs
I have seen many articles that list scriptures for Christian business owners, but they rarely have practical wisdom to go along with them. Yes, the Scriptures can speak for themselves, but when we are struggling, the Bible verses seem to get passed over by our stressed mind.
I want to share with you seven Bible verses with seven thoughts and seven insights. I know that when I am going through a difficult time, it helps me to ‘listen’ to someone who understands what I am going through. It makes the Bible come alive when someone shares it from the perspective of a Christian entrepreneur.
Worries are like butterflies, they need to be released.
It’s easy to worry. There are so many things to think about that it can be overwhelming. Take heart… and mind. When we look at the way we try to handle our problems, we often leave God out of the solution. He cares about all the things you go through and he is there to help when we ask him to. We must learn to turn our concerns over to God so that he can work wonders for us.
Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but let your requests be made known to God in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts. in Christ Jesus.”
Humility allows us to bring others to our struggles.
Sometimes when we get caught up in tough times, we try to take it all on ourselves. We must learn to delegate and let others help us. We must bring others to pray for us and with us. We are leaders in our business, but more than that, we are part of a community of faith. God wants us to help ourselves with our anxieties, and He may have put people in your life to do just that. We must remember that God cares about us.
1 Peter 5:6-7 “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, so that he may exalt you in due time, casting all your cares on him, for he cares for you.”
Our reaction to our struggles defines our success.
We don’t like to go through hard times, but when we do, our reaction to those hard times can make or break us. When we redefine our struggles in light of what God is doing and has done in our lives, we find that God’s power works even in difficult times.
James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brethren, when you have to face many trials, for you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you are mature and complete, not lacking in something”.
Perspectives help us define our problems.
When we go through hard times, we get stuck thinking about all the bad things that could happen. I have an old woman in my church who tells me, “Stop worrying.” If you look at your problems in light of all the things others are going through, your problems can seem so much minor. All over the world, people are starving, being beheaded for their faith, and their homes are being destroyed by bombs. How does your problem look like compared to those?
Psalm 46: 1-3 “God is our refuge and strength, our quick help in tribulations. Therefore, we will not fear, even if the earth is moved, and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, although its waters roar and be troubled , and the mountains tremble and with its waves”.
We can praise God even when times are tough.
David went through some horrible trials. His boss tried to kill him. His best friends betrayed him. His sons killed each other. Yet through all of these things, he always took time to worship. He looked to God through thick and thin. There are so many Psalms that start off talking about how bad things are only to end up focusing his attention back on praising God for all he has.
Psalm 37:3-6 “Trust in the Lord and do good; inhabits the land and enjoys safe pastures. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord, trust him and he will do this: he will make your justice shine like the dawn, and the judgment of your cause like the midday sun.
Action trumps worry almost every time.
Worrying is what happens when we are not acting. Christian business owners are people of action. Instead of worrying about the things you can’t change, act on the things you can. Action will lead to better results than thinking and worrying about your struggles. Take the time to write down your problems, get them out of your head, and plan a strategy for taking care of business.
Matthew 6:25-27 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; nor about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothing? “Look at the birds of the sky, which do not sow or reap or store up in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not far more valuable than they? Which of you by toiling can add a single hour to his his life?”
you have a purpose
If there’s one thing you’ll see over and over again on this website, it’s the fact that you have a purpose. You are Christian. You were created to be an entrepreneur. God put in your life the desire to help others and you are a Christian entrepreneur who can make a difference in the world. Go and do what God has called you to do.
Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who have been called according to his purpose.”
