5 advantages of obesity – Why is obesity a good thing?

Is obesity a good thing and how is obesity a good thing? It may sound strange and contrary to popular belief, but there are some advantages to obesity. Some of these cannot be met at a normal weight or even overweight. Let’s find out what these five advantages of obesity are.

1) Certain types of work only cater to the obese:

There are jobs where an obese person is suitable for more than a person of normal weight or someone who is simply overweight. An example of this could be an acting job. Let’s say there’s a story with an obese character who plays an important role. The only person likely to play the part of that character is… someone obese.

2) Stronger bones/muscles:

This can be considered as one of the advantages of obesity. The reason is that any attempt at exercise, even a casual walk, can contribute to this. Certain gym activities, such as lifting weights, also help obese people build strong bones and muscles.

3) More heat is possible:

This is because excess body fat alleviates an obese person’s body heat loss to the air, especially in cold environments. The fat tends to prevent some of the blood from getting close to the skin, where it can lose heat quickly. This is the reason excessive clothing is worn, to trap body heat and maintain constant warmth. As an extension of point 2 above, putting on more muscle provides a similar benefit where it can be a source of heat during exercise and provide great insulation during rest.

4) Size… does it matter?

This seems to be more of a feature than one of the advantages of obesity, but there are some people who are proud of its enormity and put it to some use. That makes it an advantage for them.

5) Even the obese can lose weight:

The most important thing when it comes to the advantages of obesity is that you can lose weight. It is more important than all the above advantages listed together. Even nullifying the disadvantages of obesity, but only if this advantage of obesity for weight loss is applied consistently. Obesity results mainly from the constant consumption of more calories than required. Excess weight can be lost over a period of time by frequently burning more calories through exercise without consuming more calories than your body needs.

Obviously, if you are not obese and have a normal weight, it is more beneficial for your health to stay that way. Exercise and healthy eating remain essential to maintaining a healthy body. Of all the advantages of obesity listed, number 5 is the most important. If you don’t significantly reduce your weight, sooner or later many health dangers from obesity will appear.
