Why Most Bloggers Fail: Myths and Facts

Every blogger who starts a blog wants to be a professional blogger, the fact that blogging is in a simple way is wrong. Why most bloggers fail before the journey is over, why the new blogger doesn’t achieve his goal. Here are some of the reasons why so many bloggers fail.

1 – Motivated By Money.

Myth: I can make a lot of income and money from a blog, I just start writing anything and put some ads. Just wait for the money to enter.

Fact: If you’re motivated by money, stick with it for 6 months, and yet only make a dollar a day from your ad network. You will most likely give up before your blog is 10 months old.

Solution: just blog as usual, enjoy what you are doing now, put a passion on the side without being motivated by money, place only minimal ads, not a big deal. The money will slowly generate itself after that.

2 – Keeping too many blogs.

Myth: If blogger A can make $10k a month from just 1 blog, maybe I can make even more income if I write 5 different blogs. Let’s say with 5 blogs she maybe she can make $20k a month.

Facts: The blogger who earns $10K a month knows what he is doing and he achieves it with his passion in that blog. If you concentrate on maintaining 5 blogs without knowing what you are doing, you are committing suicide. Jumping into too many blogs with no potential will waste the time, hosting money, and energy you put into your first blog.

Solution: Just focus on maintaining only 1 niche blog that you were passionate about, focus on what you are doing now without thinking about maintaining another niche blog. Give that blog some time to succeed.

3 – Write only for you, not for the readers.

Myth: I only want to write about my personal life and there are no readers who want to read my life story.

Facts: Blogger who writes for himself usually neglects all the grammar, all the basic rules of blogging and what other readers need. They just write what they want without showing interest in other readers. When others post a comment you don’t reply, when another contact you just ignore it. Here you are wrong because even if you write about your life, others still want to read it, just communicate with others and make the story interesting. There are bloggers who write about personal life success.

Solution: Communicate with readers even if you are writing about your personal life. Remember this; Blogging is a two way process, if you put something valuable in your post then others will stick to your blog for sure.

4 – Write for Google not for Readers.

Myth: I should write a niche blog just for Google, because Google will drive traffic and readers to me. Readers will come if they land on my pages on Google.

Facts: If you write for Google, you are totally wrong and you put the blog in a graveyard. When writing, you put all the effort to make the post rank higher in the search engine, all the linkbait you use, all the problogger technique you try but still have no readers. Why does this happen? ask yourself. Actually, Google follows readers, if your post writes for readers, even the look of your blog sucks, and you can still attract readers.

Solution: The successful blogger must write for the readers because the high traffic blog knows what the readers want. Why readers visit the blog and what they want is your main target. You need to put value and good content into the post first, then you can do it further with Google or other search engine optimization.

5 – Not socialized

Myth: Wasting time to join socialized community like MyBlogLog, BlogCatalog and other social communities. If I write good content, there is no need to join that community.

Facts: If you don’t join these social communities, chances are you’ll be the only person reading your own post. Social community directories will actually expose your blog to other bloggers. If you write a good post, luckily the other one tends to link to your blog.

Solution: Actively join the discussion, add others to your community, and visit other community blogs. Leave your comments on another blog. That on the other side you will be noticed.

6 – Ignore the blog update.

Myth: Just write 10 pillar articles that can increase my traffic and readers in a month, after that I don’t have to update my blog since I already published a great pillar article.

Facts: What makes a blog and a traditional website different is the blog’s ability to update content frequently. That is why the blog gets more traffic exposure than a traditional website. If you don’t update your blog frequently, all the readers and subscribers that stay with you will leave. Why should they give your blog a visit since there are no updates, just crap from all the posts.

Solution: Only publish one post a day because your readers know that you still keep that blog up with a nice post. Just write a 200 word post that can bring your blog to life.

7 – Blog about making money online.

Myth: I want to blog about making money online, I had the experience, I had the tools, and I’ve already signed up for the cool ad network. This is my time to blog about making money online.

Facts: Blogging about making money online is one of the most difficult topics for a new blogger to choose. If you’re a beginning blogger, don’t write about making money online unless you can show that you’re already making a lot of money online. Proof is the hard thing to give to a new blogger.

Solution: Don’t post about making money online if you only post for 3 months. If you start a blog on how to make money online, you are 90% likely to fail.

8 – Being totally imitative.

Myth: It’s easy to blog, just copy another blog article and post it on my blog.

Facts: Try to 100% copy other content and post it in your post. Just wait for the moment when the real perpetrator realizes your act and makes a report against you. Google will also ignore your post.

Solution: You can copy another idea or content; BUT, please elaborate in your own words and give your own comments to make it more unique. Don’t just copy and paste other content and material, do it yourself.

9 – Do not receive comments.

Myth: Comments are just a comment, leave it there, just ignore it.

Facts: The blog is a two-way communication involving the reader and the writer. That is what makes the blog unique where readers can leave comments to express their feelings. Best ways is to reply and respond to comments. It is enough to say “thank you”.

Solution: To improve feedback, you can install these plugins. That is the reward plugin for the best commenters and the Brian Threaded Comments plugin.

Now you know what is a myth and a fact about blogging. Ask yourself, why are you blogging?
