Use and cleaning of soda siphons

Some people buy soda siphons without even studying how to use or clean them first. They only know that they need to buy this device for their soft drink making projects, but they only try to figure out its use and maintenance once they already have the tool in their hands. But, even if the product comes with an instruction manual, it’s best to study it before you buy it to see if it’s easy for you to use or can manage your maintenance requirements. Below are some pieces of information on this particular topic.

Using it for the first time

It doesn’t matter if you bought a new or second-hand soda siphon or soda charger. You should always rinse the soda siphon with warm water before using it for the first time. Of course, it is always recommended that you trust the new product so you don’t have to worry about poor quality. Second-hand soda siphons may already be worn out inside without you knowing it and it will only take a few uses before you discover the device’s defect, so you’re better off sticking with a new one.

Filling

Press the siphon lever to make sure it is empty and there is no gas pressure inside. Then work to unscrew the top to get the tube out. Make sure the plastic sleeve remains intact on the body of the soda siphon as this provides the necessary air space for normal operation of the device. After that, fill it to the top with cold water. Add table soda or baking soda to the water. Replace the siphon tube. Screw the head back onto the top of the siphon firmly.

charging

Put the bulb in the socket. Make sure the neck of the bulb faces the open end of the holder. Lift the head cover to expose the charging wire and screw in the bracket until you feel it tight. The bulb must be correctly aligned with the bracket. Shake the siphon for 15 seconds. This allows the gas to dissolve in the water.

Cleaning

Before cleaning the siphon, make sure it is completely empty. To do this, press the lever before removing the siphon head. Take off the plastic cover of the siphon. Rinse the device with water.

Practical tips

It is always better to use cold water. The colder the water, the better.

It is okay to put the soda siphon in the refrigerator after filling and charging.

To make the shine last longer, gently press the lever. This allows you to control the flow of soda to the bottom of the glass.

Buy your soda siphon and soda chargers online. They are much cheaper. Just make sure you find a good and reputable online store that sells high-quality soda siphons and chargers at a reasonable price.
