Starcraft 2 Terran Reaper Rush Guide

Let’s start with our Starcraft 2 strategy guide using Terran Reaper Rush. This is one of the few opening moves that can be used effectively when playing Terran in SC2.

The quicker variation of this opening requires you to build a refinery and barracks attached to a tech lab and take out a Reaper as soon as you can.

The Rush is an opening designed to cripple the opponent’s economy and loses effectiveness once you get through the early game.

Reapers are quite immune to level 1 units with the exception of creep and speedling zerglings that can hit Reapers. This Opening Rush is designed simply to reduce the enemy’s economy more than the cost of creating and using the Rush Reaper, giving you an economic advantage.

The Reaper Rush can be spotted very easily by opponents in the middle or late game by opponents who have done a proper scan, so it is not recommended.

There are some effective counters for this Terran opening move that can spoil a Reaper Rush.

A single Stalker or Marauder on the Mineral field, 2 Marines against 1 Reaper, and a Photon Cannon or Spine colony plus any units to pursue the Reapers.

The reason many want to start with an SC2 strategy of using Reaper is because of its ability to jump cliffs, increasing its overall survivability.
