Are you planning to spend Halloween watching scary movies on DVD? If so, you’re in the right place for some great recommendations. You’ve probably seen all the new scary movies, so this article takes a different approach. I’m going to tell you about the top 3 scary movies of the 70’s and 80’s. You probably haven’t seen them, and you’ll be looking forward to seeing them for the first time. By the time you finish reading this article, you will have at least 3 movies to add to your collection.

1. Halloween (the original) – Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake received a lot of attention. Some people had no idea that the movie was a remake of a John Carpenter movie from the 1970s. The original version is the one scary movie that every horror movie fan must see at least once!

Jamie Lee Curtis does a fine job in her debut role as a nanny stalked by a maniac wearing a William Shatner mask. Michael Myers also makes his debut and becomes one of the most famous horror movie characters to date. Even after all these years, Halloween is one of the scariest movies of all time.

2. Terror Train – Jamie Lee Curtis is back for more mayhem. This time she is running for her life on a train, once again chased by a masked maniac. You’re probably wondering how scary a movie that takes place on a train can be. The answer is “very scary”. Imagine being trapped in a moving box with a killer, David Copperfield, and a group of drunk college students. It’s the perfect setting for a cheesy ’80s horror movie.

The trouble begins years earlier at a college fraternity party. Some brothers decide to play a prank on a garment. Of course, the prank goes terribly wrong and the promise goes completely nuts. She freaks out, freaks out everyone, and the movie fast-forwards years later to graduation.

The graduates charter a train and plan one last party before everyone splits up. What they don’t realize is that their last party really is “their last party.” The train reaches its destination, but some of the graduates don’t!

3. Ghost – You’re in for a real treat if you haven’t seen Phantasm. There is not much gore in this movie, but it is 100% scary. The Tall Man will make you think twice before turning off the lights. Ghost is a very low budget movie, but it makes up for it with creepiness.

Mike and Reggie are two old friends who get together for their friend’s funeral. It looks like a typical funeral, until later, Mike’s little brother Jody sees a tall man lifting the coffin into the hearse. The problem is that the tall man lifts the coffin by himself, as if he were picking up a pair of socks. That is the beginning of a long and horrible journey for Mike, Reggie and Jody.
