Mortein Kill and Protect is a new company that claims to have invented the mortar-kill and -Protect switch. However, this may not be exactly true as the company is also selling an older mortar and kill Switch called the Dead Man’s Switch. So, how exactly are these two switches different?
Basically, both switches are designed to control mortars by firing at them from a safe distance. How do they accomplish this? Well, the companies claim that the mortars do not travel fast enough through the air (at least not at first), so they have to be shot before they reach the target area. They then allow the mortar to slowly travel downrange into the area being targeted. Once it has reached the target, the mortar operator can then switch the control switch on and off, allowing the mortar to kill or prevent damage done to the targeted area. Sounds easy, right?
Unfortunately, the protein kill and protect switch do not work that way. First of all, mortars can travel quite a bit faster through the air, especially at low levels. Secondly, once a mortar travels downrange, the speed of the mortar usually increases exponentially. Combining both of these points together can result in a very fast mortar traveling at very high speeds. This is obviously very dangerous to anyone who is not directly involved in the combat area.

How does protein kill and protect control bombs work to counter this speed problem? They claim that the speed of the mortar is reduced when it is armed. Since only one shot is necessary to activate the switch, the operator should not have to continuously aim at the bomb. As a result, the bomb will be killed or prevented from causing any damage or injury long before it actually gets too near an enemy.
At any rate, it’s a nice idea for new mortar operators to try to avoid other players in the game as much as possible. It’s just too easy to accidentally shoot your own mortars if you aren’t paying attention to what you’re actually aiming at. Remember, other players can sometimes view your aiming indicators as “enemy fire” indicators, which can cause your mortar to accidentally fire and kill someone. Because of this, it’s a good idea for new mortar operators to stay far away from other players, even if they’re controlling their proteins.
Another useful thing to note about the protein kill and protect switch is that it has a very effective anti-spyware component. It has the ability to detect spyware and viruses, so you’ll know that your computer is safe even while it’s being used to play Morteins.
