Belkin Laptop Stand Vs Griffin Elevator Stand

After buying your laptop, you may have felt uncomfortable after using it for several hours. Hunched over your keyboard, you may be crying to be freed from this expensive device you thought would set you free. Getting a proper laptop stand will relieve you of this stress. Health and safety experts typically recommend that the top of the screen be at eye level and an arm’s length away. This is impossible to achieve without a laptop stand. Belkin’s Cush and Griffin’s Elevator Laptop Stand represent very different approaches to this problem.

Griffin Elevator Laptop Stand

The Griffin Elevator comes in smoothly polished aluminum that’s sized to fit all laptops. This robust three-part device is simplicity itself when placed on your desk, raising your laptop to a suitable height. Long strips of rubber pads grip both the computer and the desktop to prevent the laptop from accidentally falling off. This is designed to work with an external keyboard and mouse so you can sit down, without hunching over the screen.

Air circulates freely around your computer, preventing worrisome overheating issues. Plus, when you’re done, your external device can be stored under the mount awaiting later use.

The Belkin Cushtop was designed with different considerations in mind than the Griffin Elevator Laptop Stand. The Cushtop is styled like a warm and cozy winter muff that your computer sits on. While it elevates a laptop, it doesn’t address the ergonomic issues that the Griffin Laptop Stand was designed to solve. Since the Cushtop is worn on your lap, it’s hard to imagine how it could be used with an external keyboard or mouse.

The Cushtop is designed to protect your lap from the heat generated by your computer. It’s not clear it does much to shield your computer from that heat though, as every inch of the bottom of the computer remains in full contact with the Cushtop, leaving no way for the heat to dissipate into the air. .

The Cushtop provides a cavity inside the stand where you can store your power cords, which is a nice touch if you’re on the go.

The bottom line

Choose the Griffin lift if your main concerns are overheating and comfort. The Cushtop is fun, but for professional users and students, the Griffin Elevator fills a genuine need.
