Bar supplies you didn’t know you needed

He chose a location, installed all the equipment for his back bar, and decided on a drink menu; all that’s left is to choose the bar supplies you need. Some bar supplies are just intuitive. You know you’ll need bottle openers, corkscrews, and cocktail shakers – you probably even have them around your house. However, some of the more specialized bar supplies can make or break your bar. Having the correct supplies on hand can ensure your bartenders are using the correct amount of liquor, saving you money in the long run. They can also help your waiters get drinks faster, making rushing a breeze.

Jiggers are designed to measure the amount of alcohol that is ingested. They will keep your waiters from getting too relaxed with the liquor they put in their favorite customers’ drinks.

Pourers should be placed on top of all bottles of your most popular liquor. They make sure that the alcohol constantly spills out of the bottle; making it easy for your staff to prepare drinks quickly.

Funnels can also save money by preventing spillage when pouring drinks into small pitchers or decanters.

Flip-flops are a must at the bar. Each bar should have two pairs of them: one for ice and one for garnishes like lemons, cherries, etc. Having two will ensure that the ice doesn’t take on the flavor of any of the garnishes.

Cap Catchers match perfectly with wall mounted beer bottle openers. Putting one under the bottle opener will save you some time during late-night cleaning. Your waiters won’t have to search for all the bottle caps on the floor, they can simply empty the cap collector.

The seasoning holders can be used to separate all the different garnishes. They allow your staff to pre-cut the fruit slices and keep them out of the way. Condiment holders will fit in any counter top refrigerator, keeping garnishes cool and easily accessible. They can also be used to hold cocktail spikes and swords, small straws, and bar napkins.

Glass Rimmers are particularly useful if your bar serves margarita, lemon drops, or any other martini specialty. They are used to evenly and quickly rim cocktail glasses with salt or sugar. They consist of a tray for cakes and two other circular trays. The sponge wets the rim of the glass and the other trays may have sugar or salt to make the rim of the glass very effective.
