“3 Idiots”: A Real Life Case Study

INTRODUCTION

The movie ‘3 idiots’ is totally focused on the current educational system and its drawbacks. It has covered the situation of virtually all the participants involved in the Indian education system ie students, colleges, faculties and parents. Therefore, this movie is a lesson from all the previous parts, which I analyzed after watching this movie.
Basically, this movie covers the pressure higher education students face due to high expectations from their parents, universities, and colleges. One of the important topics covered in this film is the suicide of a student due to pressure and failure to meet expectations. As such kind of incidents are not good for the society, the country and the families.

India is a young country and young people set the trend for any nation. It is an issue that concerns us all and we must take this issue seriously. This type of incident also affects us directly or indirectly since we are all part of this system. Therefore, we need to think and bring some dynamic and revolutionary changes in the educational system of the country. This film strikes me as a real life case study of the Indian higher education system.

The film illustrates the drawbacks of the current educational system. As it clearly shows how higher education students are forced to do their best in their exams in order to achieve good grades, which will land them highly paid jobs in most of the world’s top companies. Under the current system, we teach our young people that life is a race and that to be successful you have to run faster and leave others behind. In this race they begin to use shortcuts and other means to achieve success just like the character “CHATUR” in the movie.

In this race, everyone in the system misses or overlooks the importance of knowledge and its practical utility in life and work. The essence of this film is that instead of being behind titles and qualifications, we should focus on gaining knowledge and developing skills through knowledge. This will develop excellence in students and make them eligible to do their jobs more effectively and efficiently.

The movie ‘3 idiots’ also teaches us some lessons that I have classified in the following categories

1. Lesson for students
2. Lesson for parents
3. Lesson for teachers
4. Lesson for universities

1. Lesson for students

has. Students must believe in knowledge as knowledge will develop excellence in them which will further drive them towards success.

b. They must understand the fact that there are no shortcuts to success. The only way to success is hard work and knowledge.

against Do not worry about the result while studying or doing any work. Just believe in your work, since the result depends on your work but not on your concerns.

d. When choosing your career, instead of running after money and glamour, choose the career that interests you the most and that you are most passionate about.

me. Always share your thoughts and interests with your parents and try to convince them positively. Do not pressure them into negative activities if they are not convinced.

F. Study to gain knowledge, not just to get a degree. If you will study for a degree, you will not get knowledge, but if you will study for knowledge, you will also get a degree along with it.

gram. Suicide is not the solution to any problem, but it is running away from the problem.

2. Lesson for parents

has. Parents should discuss with their children about their interests, goals, and objectives.

b. They should not be forced to do what their parents want them to do, but should be encouraged to choose the career of their interest.

against Parents should create a friendly environment at home, so that their children can share their ideas and thoughts at any time.

3. Lesson for Faculties

has. The faculties must become a mentor to the students instead of just being a teacher.

b. Teach students the practical applicability of theoretical concepts.

against Try to develop innovation and creativity in students by discussing more and more about cases, situations and concepts.

d. Use student-friendly tools and techniques to teach them.

me. Instead of forcing students, motivate them to do things by showing them the benefits of it.

4. Lesson for universities

has. Universities need to develop an environment that provides knowledge to students.

b. They also need to create healthy competition among students to acquire knowledge.

against The general focus of academic activities in a university should be towards developing the creativity and ability of its students.

d. The university administration should not force students to adapt the system, but they should be motivated to do so.
