Why is there so little true leadership?: 4 examples!

After more than four decades of involvement in nearly every aspect of quality leadership, from identifying and qualifying, to training, developing, and consulting, as well as serving thousands of actual and/or potential leaders, personally, on several occasions, as a leader, i firmly believe that many organizations, today, suffer, for many reasons, but one important reason is the apparent lack/scarcity of truly well-qualified leadership. It may be helpful to consider, in depth, why there are so few genuine leaders these days, and with that in mind, this article will briefly attempt to consider, examine, review, and discuss 4 examples, and why this/they matter.

one. Lack of professionally designed leadership training programs: Although, many claim, very few groups have a well-regarded, relevant, and personalized leadership training program not only in place, but consistently used and employed! Too many people in leadership positions appear to be unprepared or unsuited for their positions and to possess a full and relevant understanding and knowledge of their duties and responsibilities etc.! It takes a mix of assets, skills, knowledge and experience, combined with the will and preparation to think outside the box and proceed, with an open mind, focused on the greater good!

two. Organizations losing their relevance, etc.: Why, it seems, do so few organizations maintain their relevance on any significant issue? How can anything be relevant when/if a so-called leader lacks genuine empathy based on effective listening and learning from every conversation and experience? Leaders need to trust themselves, listen more and act accordingly! Relevant and sustainable leaders must proceed, with an open mind, instead of settling for good enough, based on being satisfied with the same, same, same!

3. Commitment and discipline: Perhaps because, these days, so few individuals step forward, with a desire to lead, groups accept, whoever seems willing to accept a particular position! We must face the facts and realize that one of the key reasons for this seeming shortage of true leaders is that few people possess and proceed with the degree of commitment and discipline that could make a difference, for the better!

Four. Same old, instead of open-minded: Einstein is often credited with stating the definition of insanity, he is doing things the same way and expecting different results! While changing for the sake of change makes little sense, one should proceed with an open mind, and training, to know the best – way – to go, rather than simply doing the same thing. – Old things!

If an organization wants to be relevant and sustainable, it must consistently have the best possible leadership. Are you fit to be a leader?
