Things to Know About Hybrid Car Maintenance

Hybrid car engines run on two or more fuel sources. One is combustion and the other electric. The combustion based one could involve gasoline or diesel. However, most of these vehicles rely on electric power for good mileage on low cost fuel. In the case of electric cars, maintenance is very low. However, in hybrid cars, the motor is a mix of electric and regular fuels, so it requires more than an electric motor does. Here are some things you need to know about hybrid car maintenance.

Tire inflation and tread maintenance: Tires are an important part of your car and are easy to maintain. Regardless of the type of car, the impact of the tires will be almost the same. The main aspects to take care of are wear and tread control.

Proper tire maintenance will give more mileage on hybrid cars than even normal cars. In addition, it will give a good driving sensation.

Change tread when below warning line. Otherwise, the car may skid and it is dangerous to drive in icy, hilly and wet places.

Battery check and maintenance: Batteries are very important for both hybrid and electric cars. Check the batteries at least once a month. Clean if there is corrosion on the terminals. Check and tighten the connections, fill the water in the battery if it is low. Also, check the battery for damage or cracks and replace it if you find anything.

Suspension: There is no need for any regular maintenance for the suspension. It is one of the common maintenance points for your car. On rare occasions, shocks or struts eventually need to be replaced.

Check with your brake team every twenty thousand miles. If you feel any change in the state, consult with the professional or with your mechanic.

Brushes should be replaced when your car has done about eighty thousand miles. Check it out when you are about to reach this mileage.

Hybrid vehicles also use radiators. Monitor coolant levels and top up if necessary. The radiator rusts and collects debris, preventing it from working properly. Therefore, it must be rinsed or cleaned periodically.

Fluids prevent rapid wear on car parts and allow them to run smoothly by lubricating them. So check with your car fluids.

Be sure to check fuel filters regularly. If necessary, replace them. Doing so helps prevent engine stalls.

Most hybrid car manufacturers offer up to eight years of warranty. Therefore, whenever problems occur, they will be covered by the warranty. However, proper maintenance will lead to a longer life for your car.
