Risk Vs Reward – Week 7

Week 6 treated me pretty well.

Two players in the end zone and one over a hundred yards. Close to perfection.

If you started with Damon Huard, you got 2 tds and 264 yds. A good result to complete a week off. If you started with Jason Wright you got 1 TD and 60 yards, well again if you were in trouble for an RB. And finally, if you went with Bobby Engram, you got 120 yards, but no td. If you’re in a touchdown-only league, it didn’t help, but if there’s yardage involved, it did better than a lot of open outs.

Let’s see what I can dig up for you this week.

Andre Davis – WR Houston Texans

Davis has been very active since Andre Johnson’s injury. He has 1 TD and 296 yards, but it should be two TDs (he lost last week at the goal line). Johnson will sit out again this week so Davis has a chance to be the man again. I like the Houston offense on this one, as Vince Young will probably be out, which means the Titan’s offense will probably be threes and out most of the day. Tennessee’s defense has been good against the run, so look for Schaub to air it out. I think Davis is good for 70 yards and a touchdown.

Tarvaris Jackson – QB Minnesota Vikings

Yeah, I’m taking a lot of chances here, but if Dallas wants to beat the Vikings, they’re going to have to stop Adrian Peterson. That’s where Jackson comes in. Did you see Minnesota play Chicago last week? When the Bears got an 8 in the box, Jackson’s center went for the long score. I think he should do it again against a suspect Cowboys secondary. I’m not expecting big numbers, but Dallas can be beaten by the deep ball, and I’m looking for Jackson to connect at least once.

Brian Leonard – RB St. Louis Rams

This is another stretch, in fact, if Earnest Graham is available in your league, it might be the best start. But in all my leagues (17 total), Graham is not available, Leonard is. Facing Seattle won’t be an easy afternoon, but I think Leonard will pull one out of the red zone. Brian has been running extremely well between tackles and that’s where the Hawks are vulnerable. Aside from the game against the Ravens, he is averaging 70 yards per game. This game is a season finale for the Rams. At this point, they can no longer afford to lose and still make the playoffs. With Seattle still feeling the effects of losing to New Orleans, this is as good an opportunity as St. Louis will get. I think the Rams still lose this game, but I think they will score 2 or 3 touchdowns. Leonard should be one of them.

James Farrior – LB Pittsburgh Steelers

First of all, if you took my advice and picked Jon Beason last week, good job. He made 8 solo tackles last week and now that he’s starting full-time in MLB, you can expect those kinds of numbers.

As for this week, I think James Farrior will be a big factor in the game against Denver. Farrior has 18 tackles and 4 sacks on the year and I expect him to rack up the tackles this week. He only belongs to 48% of the leagues on CBS, so if he’s available I suggest he pick you up.
