Pursuing the career of your dreams

What do you want to be when you grow up?” “I don’t want to grow up!” How beautiful would it be if we didn’t grow up and were children forever?

The teacher asked her class what they each wanted to be when they grew up. The teacher noticed that a boy was sitting quietly. So he asked her: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” “It’s possible,” she replied. “Possible?” asked the teacher. “Yes,” he said. “My mom says I’m impossible. So when I grow up, I want to be possible!! This is a popular joke going around.

But seriously, how many times have you heard the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” As a teenager, you tend to hear this question a lot, but you’ve probably heard it since you were five years old.

During the early years, the shock of being with someone who may be a teacher or a doctor or an engineer makes us spontaneously say what we want to be. We just launch the response without knowing what to expect.

Teenagers who would be out of school in a few months begin to ponder this question. Now they are mature enough to decide what they are good at and what they can specialize in. Quite a bit of knowledge is required to succeed in this difficult environment. But it must be remembered that a teenager is quite naive about the real world and therefore it is easy to make mistakes during that age that can negatively affect the rest of his life. They should heed a fair amount of guidance and advice at this age.

They would pursue their dream career once they finish college, but how many are lucky enough to find their dream career? There are some of us who never decide on our dream career, while others seem to know exactly what they want to do from a very young age. How do we know what job our cup of tea will be?

Asking experienced people for guidance, and experimenting in our lives, and going through the hard facts of life: are these the solutions one should go for if they are to succeed in finding their dream jobs?
