How to decorate your refrigerator
If your kitchen looks dull and lifeless, you may want to add more life to it by decorating your refrigerator. The fridge is one of the focal points of the kitchen. You can definitely spice up a couple of design ideas just by styling your fridge.
This shouldn’t require a lot of money or take a lot of work. Here are some tips on how to style your refrigerator:
1. Add a top cover to your refrigerator. This can be a strip of fabric that you have with you or that you bought at the fabric store. The first thing you have to do is measure the top of the fridge. The fabric should go down to the top sides of the machine. It really depends on how long you want the fabric to hang over the sides of the machine.
After measuring, buy the fabric. Choose a simple design or a solid color fabric. In this way, you can still embellish it. If you want something simple, just sew delicate lace to the edges of the fabric. Also buy a roll of thin tape. Cut 32 pieces of 1 1/2 inch ribbon. Divide it into 4. There should be 8 pieces for each corner of the top cover. Tie the pieces together with another strip of tape. Sew it to the corners of the fabric.
2. Also try making a door handle cover. Measure the door handle. You can use the remaining fabric that you used for the top cover. Tuck in the edges and sew them carefully. At one end of the fabric, sew or glue a piece of Velcro. Do the same with the other end. This will act as the handle cover clip.
You can embellish by adding colored beads or sequins. If you want to keep it simple and elegant, you can add lace to the door handle trim.
3. Make a small rug that you can place on the floor in front of the refrigerator. This will help catch spills. To make the rug, try using old clothes. Choose the same colors. Cut them into one and a half centimeter strips. Buy a net or mesh. Cut it into the size of rug you want. Insert the strips of fabric into the holes of the net. Make a simple knot. Do this step until you have covered the holes with the fabric strips.
