History of the Suzuki GT185

Suzuki first released its GT185 model in Europe and the Americas in early 1973. Japan did not receive the model until a year later, in 1974. This model was also known as the Adventure and was first released with a dual wheel brake. lead. This was changed a year later with a single disc which led the way for the brakes on other GT models to be changed. The Suzuki GT185 remained relatively the same until its discontinuation in 1977.

Suzuki produced five models within three years of manufacture to launch new specifications and new body schemes. The original model was known as the GT185K. The engine with which Suzuki launched this bike is an air-cooled 184cc parallel twin two-stroke that put out 21 horsepower. The starting frame was beautiful with leather seats and an amazing looking engine. The original Suzuki GT185 model was excellent, to say the least.

The second model to appear in the GT series was the Suzuki GT185 L. This model was released in 1974, just one year after the original release of the GT185. This model gave motorcycle enthusiasts two colors to choose from, either blue or gold. The only major difference with this model compared to its predecessor is a sleeker body with added chrome.

The third model to be released in the GT185 series is the GT185 M. Almost all the specifications of this bike are copied from the previous versions. The only major difference is the body design. The bike’s seat sits a bit lower than the GT185 L, and the engine is raised a bit higher. This time around, people who bought this bike got to choose from a few more colors, including red, blue, and gold.

The Suzuki 185 A was built in 1976 with only one difference. This difference was that the bike’s side panels were now black and the handlebars were created with a bit more angle for more stability while riding. Shortly after the launch of the Suzuki 185 A, the GT185 B hit dealer lots in 1977 with an all-new look and even more chrome that will easily grab the attention of other motorists and pedestrians.

The last model to be produced in the GT185 series looked more like a cousin than an actual new version. This model is the softest of all. The Suzuki GT185 came with alloy wheels and made its appearance in 1978. Japanese models actually have different specifications than models sold in Europe or America, but they all look the same in perspective.

The specifications of the GT185 models remain largely the same throughout the life of the GT185. The dry weight is actually very small at just 129kg. The total length is 1,950mm and it can easily fit two passengers or even a pannier. The wheelbase helped a lot with stability at 1,290mm. The specs on this bike created a whole new playing field for competitors everywhere.
