Engagement Parties: What Makes Them So Outrageously Special?

Engagement parties are not only for fun and entertainment, but also for socializing and eating together. When my sister was getting engaged, the preparations and decorations that led to the party are still very indelible in my memory. What makes an engagement party so glamorously special and memorable? Read on to find out!

My sister and I were in the living room getting dressed. While I was wearing a burgundy sari, my sister was wearing a red one. I put burgundy roses in my hair and the hairdresser did my makeup. My sister took a long time to get dressed: she had her nails done, her hair and face decorated beautifully, so she looked like a beautiful bride-to-be at the end of the process. Her prince charming was abroad and her mother had come out with the engagement proposal while she was here with the rest of her family.

After my sister and I were fully dressed, we drove a long way back home, near a restaurant where the royal party was taking place.

Our mother had come and relatives began to arrive. The armed videoman began taking videos of everyone entering the huge hallway. Other guests arrived and finally the family of the groom-to-be made their entrance. There was a lot of hustle and bustle as they headed down the hall.

There were red and white dining tables set around the hallway. There was low music in the air. There were soft colored and white lights that added to the pageantry and spectacle. The bride-to-be had a spectacular and comfortable seating arrangement. The groom-to-be’s mom handed the ring to my sister’s long, blonde ring finger. And the guests clapped and clapped.

The family of this groom-to-be received extra care and attention, as did the rest of the guests by treating them to dinner. It was a great dinner of mixed fried rice, grilled chicken, crackling beef, vegetarian dishes, shrimp platter and drinks.

After some time, the future groom’s family left. We had a relaxed chat between all the close relatives as many guests left. After some small talk with each other and relaxing and paying the bills, my beautiful sister and I finally made it home, bringing the party to an end.

Engagement parties like this one are great for socializing and eating out, without having the real burden and workload of a real wedding party. A pre-wedding dinner party is a way to enjoy and recreate with family, friends and other close people with whom we want to keep in touch and maintain a close bond for years together.
