Apple iPhone 4 Vs Google Nexus S – Fight!

How do the Apple iPhone 4 and the Google Nexus S compare? More importantly, which one would win in a big phone fight?

Size and weight:
How big are these two phones? The iPhone 4 is a sleek phone at 115.2 x 58.6 x 9.3mm. While the Google phone measures 123.9 x 63.0 x 10.88 mm. The iPhone 4 is the smallest phone. If weight is an issue, then the iPhone 4 weighs 137g, while the Nexus weighs 129g.

connectivity:
Wireless options on the popular iPhone 4 include 3G/HSDPA (7.2 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR. Meanwhile, Google’s Nexus S offers 3G/HSDPA (7.2 Mbps), Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR.

Camera:
Apple has integrated a 5.0-megapixel lens into iPhone 4 along with features like tap-to-focus still/video, LED flash, geo-tagging, VGA, and HD (720p) video recording. For FaceTime video calls, there’s also a second front-mounted camera.

The Google Nexus S matches its opponent with its own 5.0-megapixel camera, plus autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus, and 720p video recording. Another camera located on the front is ideal for video calls. Just like the iPhone.

monitor/keyboard:
Here’s where it gets interesting… The iPhone 4 features a 3.5-inch wide LCD touch screen with a quoted resolution of 640 x 960 pixels. Embedding 614,400 pixels in this screen size gives the iPhone 4 a pixel density of 329,714 pixels per inch (PPI).

By comparison, the Nexus S’s touch-sensitive Super AMOLED screen is 4.0 inches wide. Its 480 x 800 pixel resolution loses out to the iPhone 4 screen. Compared to its rival, this screen’s pixels per inch (PPI) rating is much lower at 233.25.

Software:
Software-wise, the iPhone 4 uses iOS4, while the Nexus S runs a pure version of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread).

Storage:
The iPhone 4 wins the internal storage battle with 32GB, compared to the Nexus S’s 16GB. The iPhone 4 lacks an expansion slot, so 32GB is all the storage you get. The Nexus S is missing an expansion slot, so the phone is restricted to its 16GB of storage.

Additional features:
iPhone 4 also includes GPS/A-GPS, a digital compass, and a 3-axis gyroscope. The Nexus S features GPS/A-GPS, a dedicated GPU for faster gaming, haptic feedback vibration, a 3-axis gyroscope, a digital compass, and a curved “Outline Display.”

It also has built-in Near Field Communication (NFC) technology for digital payments.
