6 tips to maintain weight loss

Congratulations!! She has lost the weight that she has been working so hard to lose. Now how do you keep it off?

I’ll share some of my own tips to help keep your hard-earned weight off.

1. Take responsibility with yourself. Weigh yourself once or twice a week. To maintain your weight, you need to know how much you weigh.

2. If you gain a pound or two, make the changes today that will help you lose that pound or two. You know how to lose weight, you’ve done it before. Lose that pound before it becomes 5 or 10.

3. You know your weaknesses. If keeping the chips out of the house is what is needed, continue to keep the chips out of the house. If it helps to plan meals so you know what you’re going to eat each day, keep doing it.

4. If you have been journaling, then consider continuing to write what you eat. It is very easy to fall back into old patterns without even realizing what is happening. If you write in a journal what you are eating, then the words are right in front of your eyes.

5. Continue to make exercise part of your daily routine. Consider changing what you do to exercise. Play tennis, swim, walk, take an aerobics class, take a dance class, ride a bike. Mix it up, but keep exercising in your daily routine.

6. Don’t skip meals. As you learned during your weight loss period, your body works best with 3-5 meals a day, rather than just one meal a day. Keep in the habit of eating at least 3 meals a day.

As you learned during weight loss, don’t deprive yourself, instead follow the necessary steps above to lose a pound or two and get back to the right weight for you.
