2006 NFL Mock Draft Top Five Value Picks

Here’s a mock 2006 NFL draft of the top five value picks, so throw out all the other methods of gauging college players and their potential value in the NFL.

Most of the 2006 NFL mock drafts discuss team needs and potential trades. None of that here. In an NFL draft that’s as heavy as this one, it’s all about value. Forget about the need to be in the top five and choose the best player.

Some people say the Houston Texans would trade the first pick to draft a quarterback or rack up picks to improve one of the most terrible offenses the NFL has seen in years.

Forget it. With Reggie Bush entering the NFL, the 2006 NFL mock draft, along with the actual NFL draft, should have Bush as the first player taken. Bush is destined for stardom. He’s a fast young version of Marshall Faulk, arguably the greatest football player to ever tie shoes.

Coming in at number two in this Barnes version of the 2006 NFL mock draft is AJ Hawk. Most pundits have Hawk between four and seven in their NFL mock drafts, but a player with Hawk’s skills and fierce competitiveness doesn’t show up often. Hawk impacts games, and not many gamers do this.

D’Brickashaw Ferguson is third in the 2006 NFL mock draft. This monster lineman will make most QBs and RBs better.

Quarterback Matt Leinart sits fourth on the Barnes 2006 NFL mock draft roster. He fits the entire pack of NFL draft experts for greatness, with size, intellect, and background. Someone gets a 10-year winner in this draft pick.

Rounding out the 2006 NFL mock draft at number five is Mario Williams. The NC State defensive end has typical size and speed and finished his college career with 14.5 sacks. He will terrify quarterbacks for years to come, and no one should ignore him in this venue.
