Some experts defined the budget as a formal business plan. It is a financial goal that what a company intends to achieve in the near future. It consists of a series of plans and actions expressed in numbers and financial terms. A business can easily measure its successes and performance over the financial period by comparing results to budgets.

The budgeting process can bring a number of benefits to a business. Some of the benefits that can be derived from it are:

1. All managers involved will be made to think ahead and plan their goals and how to achieve them.

2. Top management will be forced to review previous actions and identify weaknesses. New action plans are also developed to remedy weaknesses and identify new opportunities for further growth.

3. All departments should coordinate their efforts during the setup phrase. This will enhance teamwork and further enhance organizational skills.

To ensure that a company enjoys the full benefits of budgeting, top management must fully support it. Most lower-level employees are influenced by the attitude of top management. If they see that top management is compromised, they will do it automatically.

Once you have the support of senior management and other employees, your job of budgeting will be easier and half done.

Once the budget is completed, it does not mean that the company will automatically reach its goals when the financial period ends. Budgeting is just the first step. The company must ensure that all action plans included in the budgets are closely followed and all intermediate goals are achieved.
