Tourist attractions in Bangalore

Most famous for its elegant BPO industry, Bangalore was never known to be a tourist destination. Ulsoor Lake

Easily one of the most visited destinations in Bangalore, enjoy a boat ride or take a dip in the nearby pool. Small islands dotted with greenery are found in the lake, making it an ideal place for a picnic.

Lal Bagh

The beautiful garden was designed by Hyder Ali in 1760. The immense horticultural wealth displayed here is attributed to Tipu Sultan, who brought the flora from the world. The massive anthology of tropical, subtropical, and medicinal plants found here is overwhelming. The Glass House, which is the highlight of the 2,400-acre park, is simulated on the lines of London’s Crystal Palace. Flower displays a week before the republic and independence days see a large number of people. It also houses a children’s playground, Bal Bhavan, complete with pony rides, boat rides, and toy train rides; and a rose garden with 150 varieties of roses.

Cubbon Park

Named after Bangalore’s oldest commissioner, Sir Mark Cubbon, this 300-acre park is dotted with wood and flowers. Located in the heart of the cantonment in 1864, it is the brainchild of Sir Richard Sankey, the then Chief Engineer of Mysore. Some attractions of this park are Attara Kacheri, the central library, the aquarium, the Jawahar bal bhavan museum, the Visveswaraya Industrial and Technological Museum.

Vidhan Saudha

Home to the legislature and the secretary of state, the colossal building was constructed between 1954 and 1958. On holidays, the periphery of the building is illuminated with abundant lights, giving it a magnificent portico. Opposite the Vidhan Soudha is the red brick structure of the Karnataka High Court.

Nehru Planetarium

Particularly attractive to school-age children, it seats 200 people. He is also known for his regular lectures on astronomy. A dancing musical fountain is in front of the planetarium.

Tipu’s Summer Palace

Haidar Ali took over construction and Tipu Sultan completed it in 1789. Built along the lines of Srirangapatnam’s Daria Daulat Palace, the two-story ornate wooden palace is known for its wall and ceiling carvings. The palace houses photographs of Tipu and his time.

Bangalore palace

Built by King Woodeyar, the palace is modeled after Windsor Castle and is open to the public for only one week in November. Turreted parapets, battlements, arches and fortified towers add to its beauty, while the surrounding gardens give it a fairytale setting. Covering an area of ​​45,000 sq. feet, this 110-year-old structure was built at a cost of one million rupees.

Bull temple

The temple, built in 1786 by the founder of Bangalore, Kempegowda, is a classic example of Dravidian architecture. Dedicated to Nandi, the sacred bull, the image of the gigantic monolithic bull inside the temple measures 15 feet. tall and 20 feet. long. The bull is believed to have increased in size and its current dimensions are 5 meters in height and 6 meters in length.

Government Museum

Neolithic finds from the chamdravalli excavations and the antiquities of Mohanjedaro are the main attraction of this 18-gallery museum. In operation since 1886, ethnic jewelry, textiles, coins, and miniature paintings can be found inside the building.

The statue of Shiva
