HP Pavilion Desktops (a6540in) – A Reliable Choice

I bought my new PC last month after a lot of research and considerations on brand, price, configuration and appearance! So here is my experience on my new HP a6540in PC, now that I have used it for a month.

Basic configuration: Core 2 Duo E4700 (C) DC 2.6 GHz (65 W) processor, 250 GB hard drive, 2 GB RAM (expandable to 4 GB)

Check:

HP is a long-known brand for its printers, all-in-ones, and other similar peripherals. I’ve been using the same thing for as long as I can remember. So when it comes to choosing a branded PC, HP outperforms the rest for its reputation and sense of reliability.

The desktop computer under consideration here is one of its latest models released in July, the a6540in. The PC has an elegant design and a very useful design cabinet that provides you with two USB ports, headphone and microphone slots towards the front panel. A cover is provided that you can close when not in use protecting it from dust so it doesn’t look unsightly.

The monitor I bought was the w1707, which is a 17-inch TFT screen. You can choose according to your needs, whether you need a larger screen or a smaller one. By my use, I find a 17-inch monitor to be adequate for most purposes, although sometimes you find 1/4 of the screen space is wasted as most websites are designed for standard monitors. 14 inches. But it comes in handy when working in MS Word or Excel, as you can view more of the documents without having to scroll. The monitor has built-in speakers.

The keyboard that comes with this model is very comfortable to use with its layout and keys. It also provides shortcut keys for some standard functions, such as launching your browser, email client, search or help, etc. You can also control the speaker volume through the keyboard.

One of the biggest benefits of choosing HP products is service. The company has its service centers in the main cities and you can call their toll-free number. for help or also use their online support on the Internet. They offer variable period guarantees on different models ranging from 1-3 years. One of the reasons I chose this particular model (at the cost of being relatively more expensive) was a 3-year warranty that comes with it. Make sure to register your product on their site and keep your invoice, as the warranty can only be used on presentation of your purchase invoice, there is no separate warranty card / statement.

The computer comes loaded with the original licensed version of Windows Home Basic. You are also provided with a trial version of Norton Internet Security that you can purchase online from Symantec. Instead, I bought Norton Antivirus 2008 because it was sufficient for my needs. Using a licensed version entitles you to regular updates and security alerts. I recommend that you buy a system preloaded with original software. There are other models available that are quite cheaper, but they come with DOS only and then you would need to load Windows separately.

The only backing out which I definitely think it is: they provide only a 30-day trial version of MS Office! Although it is not only with HP, none of the other brands offer it either, but as a customer I believe that Office is the most basic software that everyone uses and it should have been preloaded with full functionality. Now you are forced to spend a good amount buying it or to go for a pirated version.

Overall evaluation: HP brings you a whole new experience of using your computer. Whether it’s the sleek design, bundled software, or after-sales service, HP is the way to go.

In particular, the a6540in is a powerful machine with its Core 2 Duo processor and you certainly have a reliable, robust and robust system with this purchase. The only thing you can consider is its price – the complete system (including a Microtek UPS) costs around INR 38,000. It’s acceptable considering the original Windows Vista you get with it, but it could still be priced a bit lower.
