Do you have a big head bio?

Do you have a bio that really showcases all of your talents? Do you have a bio that shows how good you are at what you do? Do you have a biography of Big Head? That means exactly what you think. It’s a bio that screams from the page, I’m great at what I do!

I recently submitted a profile, bio, and cover letter in an effort to get a company to hire me as a speaker. A colleague saw the biography and said that I had a big head and that I was full of myself. He was ashamed? Actually, I was embarrassed, but not for me, for her. The way I see it is if I don’t market myself, who will? After our discussion, he reread my bio and totally agreed. He even asked me to help her create her own PERSONAL BIG HEAD BIOGRAPHY. My full biography is five pages long. I have several shortened versions to adapt for any occasion. I’m not suggesting everyone has a bio like mine, but it is an important part of your repertoire in your quest for self-promotion.

These 10 reasons should help convince you that you need to revamp and reinvigorate your bio. You must have a big head bio that tells everyone how great you are.

1. It’s not who you know, but who knows you.

If I could impart one key element to success, this would be it. Who knows you? Who do you want to meet you? Ask yourself why someone needs to know you. Be prepared to answer that question confidently and succinctly. You need a 60-second byte of sound to accompany your paper profile.

2. It is not good deeds and hard work that give you opportunities. It is visible

So what are you doing to improve yours? Your bio should tell it all (or at least make people want to know more about you).

3. Are you an expert in your field?

Your bio should say that you are an expert. Let’s do a little exercise. Go to GOOGLE and type your name. Do you have any success? Now try your field of expertise or your company’s product. Do you see any results? That is your task. Get out there!

4. Did you know that employee turnover exceeds 1% per week?

That means that in one year more than 50% of your partners, colleagues, friends or YOU will have to change or will voluntarily change jobs. Are you ready if it’s you? Having your updated bio on hold is one way to ensure that if it happens, you’ll be one step ahead of the game.
TIP: Where can you post your bio for more exposure? Your personal website is a place.

5. Open doors with your biography.

Opportunity waits for no one. When an opportunity presents itself, do something about it. Do the time! Get that bio on the fast track. 6. Build your reputation step by step.

7. Consider places where you might have a chance to tell someone about yourself.

In the elevator (Seriously, that’s where the name Elevator Pitch comes from).
At a business meeting or conference there are always presentations.
Through association memberships. There is always a director and there are ways to introduce yourself to the other members.
Through interview opportunities and articles. Ask for a signature and be sure to say what you really do. Don’t just provide your title.
Networking events. In most cities there is a formalized network that meets for breakfast or lunch to exchange leads. Take a look to see which one suits your needs.

8. Use of press releases.

This is a place to strut. Send regular press releases to your resource list. Remember only serious things. Be short and concise. Watch for later on how to write a personal press release.

9. Network.

The net. The net. The net. Still don’t get it? THE NET!! The more you get involved, the more recognized you become. Networking is your launch pad.

10. Do I know you?

If not, why not? Don’t you think I should? I can help you gain notoriety simply by knowing what you do. I became the best known woman in the world of packaging. 30,000 professionals read my newsletter every week. I receive more than 1,000 inquiries per month. Who to say that one of those callers might not need to meet you? If I don’t, how can I get them in touch with you?
