6 necessary restrictions for future American presidents

If we do not want future presidents to ignore much of the normal behavior that we expect and deserve from the individual we elect to serve and represent us, it will be necessary to ensure applicable rules, regulations, and ethical requirements – that they are firmly in place! Whether one opposes or supports Donald Trump, he should be able to admit that his behavior, actions, rhetoric, amount of lies, adverse actions, and refusal to accept ethical requirements have been potentially dangerous for many of them. basic needs, including the equitable application of laws and justice, standardized foreign policies, greater transparency, ethics, etc., that potentially endanger the present and future, the health and well-being of our nation. To make sure, we do not see, that this is repeated, in the future, we need restrictions, which are enforced, and have, teeth or claws, which ensures that they cannot be ignored, if / when, someone finds them inconvenient. With that in mind, this article will briefly attempt to consider, examine, review, and discuss the restrictions that we need and should enforce.

1. Limitation of the individual (non-advisory) powers of the president: President Trump, on several occasions when he couldn’t get away with it, in terms of legislature and / or approvals, he just proceeded to do it anyway. Who can forget, when, despite the fact that the Legislature, refusing to provide additional funding for its South Wall, proceeded to transfer funds, earmarked for other purposes (predominantly, Department of Defense, budget). He has often ignored the Balance of Powers, apparently acting more like monarch than president. We must make sure that this will not continue to happen and that no one is above the law!

two. Refusing to facilitate / address / cooperate, in a smooth transition: It appears that Trump does not want to leave his office and truly believes, or serves his own interests, to use all possible means to make any attempt at a smooth transition possible. While the people above, who served in his office, almost always cooperated or at least made essential and relevant information available to the President-elect, he refuses to do so and, by procrastinating / delaying, he does, which many believe, it should be a requirement, especially during this horrible pandemic and with so many international and national challenges.

3. Greater financial disclosure / transparency (potential conflicts): Every president since Nixon has published his personal financial statements, including several years of tax returns. Meanwhile, Trump submitted. Limited information, on these returns, has not been willing, and has sued, to avoid the disclosure of your tax returns. At the very least, this creates a perception of, what might he be hiding and why?

Four. Respect for Congress has the power of the budget: On several occasions, he has tried to ignore and / or bypass Congress (House of Representatives), regarding the power of our budget! This is an essential component of our Balance of Powers and must be met!

5. Pattern of judicial appointments: There is a problem, when making judicial / judicial appointments, on partisan issues, but, when the Bar Association declares that a candidate is not qualified to serve, it jeopardizes the fairness of our system! Shouldn’t there be some minimum qualifications / requirements to be appointed to a Federal Judge position, which is a life appointment?

6. Powers of war: Shouldn’t we make sure that a president’s war powers are not absolute, but must be done in conjunction with the legislature? After all, a potentially unbalanced leader can cause a significant degree of harm.

We need to ensure, protect, this nation, and our citizens, if someone elected, to the highest office in the country, refuses to comply, by the rules from that position! We cannot afford a repetition of this pattern, of actual and / or potential abuse of power and influence! The politics, the people, and the best interests of our nation must take precedence over the personal / political agenda and / or the self-interest of any person.
