4 benefits of entrance mats

Entrance mats are a profitable investment for companies in all sectors. Mats provide security, floor protection, dirt control, bacteria regulation, and can even serve as a branding medium.

First of all, the entrance mats serve to protect the floor on which they are placed. Hardwood, tile, and marble are common flooring materials used in a variety of different commercial buildings. These materials can chip, scratch, or crack due to falling objects or general wear and tear. The cost of replacing damaged floors can be high, leading many homeowners and facility managers to invest in commercial carpet to protect their floor spaces.

Additionally, entrance mats are effective in removing bacteria buildup. These products work to control dirt and debris around the entrances and exits of a building just like regular carpets. However, the difference is that these products can also be treated with antimicrobial agents that kill bacteria on contact. These types of mats are great in kitchen areas, food service stations, and other environments that need to be kept free of contaminants.

Some entrance mats can be customized to offer a fourth benefit: brand. Mats are easily personalized with company logos, slogans or insignia to further extend brand awareness to guests. These logo floor mats are available in a variety of bold colors to match most pre-existing color schemes or interior décor. Additionally, advancements in digital printing and “stitching” processes make it possible to create highly detailed imaged logo mats.

Most importantly, entrance mats add a level of security around the interior and exterior areas of a building. Entrances, lobbies, and reception areas are often adorned with tile or wooden floors. While these floor surfaces look beautiful, they can also become dangerous when wet. Laying entrance mats along the interior and exterior areas surrounding entrances helps prevent accidents in at least 2 main ways. First, the mats clean dirt and other debris from visitors’ shoes when they enter a building. Once removed, the dirt falls below the surface of the carpet and is contained to prevent an unsightly and potentially dangerous build-up. Second, most entrance mats are made with a rubber backing that keeps the mat in place, even on smooth surfaces. This creates a stable surface to walk on and reduces the likelihood of accidental trips, slips and falls even more.

The benefits of a well-planned carpet installation extend far beyond simply covering the floor spaces that surround a facility’s entrances and exits. From soil control to accident prevention, commercial rugs create a comfortable and safe environment.
